Prunatelli Chianti Rufina 2018

Production

The grapes come from mature vineyards on the Grati family's 100ha estate, with manual pruning and harvesting and minimal intervention. Fermented in stainless steel with regular pumping over to wet the cap and encourage extraction. After fermentation the wine is aged for twelve months in Slavonian oak botte, then in bottle for at least 3 months.

Tasting notes

The nose has plenty of spicy fruit including plum and cherry, with lightly meaty, savoury notes. The palate is sappy with developed, sour plum and dried fruit flavours, spice and grippy tannins. Classic Chianti - in an attractively rustic style.

Food match

Fine with a meaty Bolognese, meatballs and decent home-made burgers with a slab of real cheese!
